Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate.
The OnValueChanged method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.
Notes to Inheritors: When overriding OnValueChanged in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnValueChanged method so that registered delegates receive the event.
The following sample code illustrates what information is available in the ValueChanged event.
Imports Infragistics.Win Imports Infragistics.Win.UltraWinProgressBar Imports System.Diagnostics Private Sub ultraProgressBar1_ValueChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ultraProgressBar1.ValueChanged Dim pbar As UltraProgressBar pbar = sender Debug.WriteLine("Progress bar: " + pbar.Name) Debug.WriteLine("new value: " + pbar.Value.ToString()) End Sub
using System.Diagnostics; using Infragistics.Win; using Infragistics.Win.UltraWinProgressBar; private void ultraProgressBar1_ValueChanged(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { UltraProgressBar pbar = sender as UltraProgressBar; Debug.WriteLine( "Progress bar: " + pbar.Name ); Debug.WriteLine( "new value: " + pbar.Value.ToString() ); }
