Hi,
I'm using QTP 10 to test .NET based applications but the objects were not recognized during recording, all I got were some SwfObjects without details.
Also when I tried to open the ".NET Windows Forms Spy" tool, it won't open.
I'm pretty sure that the .NET add-in is installed and loaded. Also TestAdvantage for HP 2009.2 was also installed.
Any idea?
Thanks.
Hello,
You should verify that the correct Version of TestAdvantage is being used as the version of TestAdvantage has to match the version of NetAdvantage for it to work correctly. For example, if the AUT (application under test) was developed using the Windows Forms toolset of NetAdvantage for .NET 2010 Volume 1 then you will need to use TestAdvantage 2010 Volume 1.
Once you have verified that you have the correct version of TestAdvantage, you should verify that TestAdvantage is configured correctly by running the installed sample scripts and recording on the included sample applications.
The samples are located in the following path under Windows XP for the most recent versions of TestAdvantage:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Infragistics\TestAdvantage for Windows Forms (HP) [version]\Samples
In this location, there is a folder for the scripts and a Bin folder that contains the applications you can record against.
Let me know if you have any questions with this matter.

Hi Alan Halama,
I am working on .net application some objects are recognizing as SWF Object those and we can't perform any operation and those objects are infragistic objects and i checked with the development team they have given as the followin configeration details
QTP Version:10.0
Net Advantage Winforms Controls 5.3
.Net Version - 2.0 (2005)
Can you explain which version of TESTADVANTAGE should install or any prerequisit before installing the testadvantage
Can u help me clearly how to installl .....
please
Alan suggested that I create a case for you concerning your question.
You'll be hearing from he shortly thru that case.
I am trying to automate MS word and we have custom .net add in(Win forms). QTP is not able to identify these objects and storing them as Activex/SWFobjects which is not correct.
I have spoken to developers and they have confirmed the techonologies used for these add ins
VSTO for office
.net framework 4.0
I am using QTP 11.0 version and we are looking at test advantage to help us automating the .net addin in MS word .
Can you please throw some light here ? Can we use test advantage 2013 vol 1 to automate .net controls in MS word and if yes do we need any other tool as well?
Thanks,
Does your add in for MS Word use any NetAdvantage controls? If yes then it may help you though you would need the volume of TestAdvantage that matches the volume of NetAdvantage that was used to build the add in.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the reply.
No our application/add in is not using any net advantage as i ahve confirmed with developers. they are using visual studio tool for office (VSTO)- .net framework 4.0 to create custom add ins
can we still use test advantage to automate/identify these objects as QTP is identifying them as SWFobjects which doesn't look correct to me ?
Thansk,
G
TestAdvantage will only enhance record and replay functionality on NetAdvantage controls so if you are not using the controls it will not benefit you.
