.NET objects not recognized by QTP 10 with .NET add-in
posted

Hi,

I'm using QTP 10 to test .NET based applications but the objects were not recognized during recording, all I got were some SwfObjects without details.

Also when I tried to open the ".NET Windows Forms Spy" tool, it won't open.

I'm pretty sure that the .NET add-in is installed and loaded. Also TestAdvantage for HP 2009.2 was also installed.

Any idea?

Thanks.

    Hello,

You should verify that the correct Version of TestAdvantage is being used as the version of TestAdvantage has to match the version of NetAdvantage for it to work correctly.  For example, if the AUT (application under test) was developed using the Windows Forms toolset of NetAdvantage for .NET 2010 Volume 1 then you will need to use TestAdvantage 2010 Volume 1.

Once you have verified that you have the correct version of TestAdvantage, you should verify that TestAdvantage is configured correctly by running the installed sample scripts and recording on the included sample applications.

The samples are located in the following path under Windows XP for the most recent versions of TestAdvantage:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Infragistics\TestAdvantage for Windows Forms (HP) [version]\Samples

In this location, there is a folder for the scripts and a Bin folder that contains the applications you can record against.

Let me know if you have any questions with this matter.

    Alan
