Like others I have spent £154.00 on this suite of controls for lightswitch, however some of the most basic requirements are not met, particularly with the Grid control. Firstly, Column headers display the underlying field name, rather than the Display name set for the underlying embedded control and there is no way to change this. How user friendly is that, given that database field names are sometimes likely to be less than intuitive. The default behaviour does not even split out words from the name i.e. ProductDescription does not display as 'Product Description'. This issue has been highlighted since November 2011 and is still not fixed!
Additionally, numeric values will not align right, even if you set both horizontal alignment and text alignment on the underlying control! So, no numeric data in our lightswitch grids, please!
You can't hide the search bar (what if you are providing your own functionality?).
Amazingly, the Display Name property exists for a grid, but it does not 'Display' anywhere! What if you have several grids on the same screen? How on earth does a user know what they are looking at?
These are the most basic, yet crucial things. Under these circumstances, this product should not be RTM where developers are expected to pay in good faith that at least the most basic requirements are met.
It wouldn't be quite so unprofessional had these issues been adressed based on previous posts highlighting them, but this has not transpired.
Infragistics, give me one good reason, given these issues and the lack of response, why I should use your grid in a production app, let alone pay for it (which I have),in its current state. These are not bugs, just basics. Truthfully I am tired of having expectations raised by slick p.r. blurb and pretty pictures only to be let down by what seems to be pure trivia.
Sort it. Now. Please.
Hello Ian,
I have been reading through your last response, please excuse me for leading the matter towards providing the necessary fixes. Even though there is a trial evaluation period provided before any purchase, such matters are outside the developer support scope.
The best way to proceed in such a manner would be to contact any of our sales teams at:
Sales and Information - sales@infragistics.comSales and Information (European Customers) - sales-europe@infragistics.comSales and Information (Japan Customers) - JapanSalesGroup@infragistics.comSales and Information (India Customers) - Sales-India@infragistics.com
I can suggest providing a link to this forum thread for clarity.
If you are having any trouble contacting them please let me know, I’d be more than glad to assist you along the way.
Hello Manuel,
Yes going regularly through the website should do the trick, however every week is somewhat too often. If you do it once a month you shouldn’t miss anything. Here is a link to which you can reference for the upcoming Service Release dates: http://es.infragistics.com/support/documentation.aspx#ServiceReleases
I have to totally agree with the guys above.
The grid is absolutely useless in a production environment, to say I am disappointed is an understatement.
What worrys me more is the lack of urgency to try and fix or expand what could be a very popular product. It has also put me off buying the full suite of controls for the time being .

Hi Peter,
I appreciate that you have taken time to respond again. However the situation is simply not acceptable, and not simply for the basic product defects. Again you talk about feedback coming from your customers.
I content that feedback should not be required to let your dev team know that a) grid columns won't honour the DisplayName property and b) that it is not possible to right-align text in the grid, a most basic requirement and which should have been fixed before RTM!
I said I wasn't simply annoyed about these basic defects. I am frustrated to note that no-one from Infragistics, including yourself in your latest response, has referred to my legitimate request for an immediate refund, which I insist on receiving, given that this product is NOT suitable for LOB applications. Why therefore should I pay for a product that is not fit for purpose? I respectfully (again) ask that you kindly address this issue or pass it on to someone who has such authority.
On another note, 13 days ago I posted regarding the supposed (and advertised) hierarchical functionality of this control. I hadn't been the only poster to question whether that functionality actually existed. The point is I have had no response whatsoever to this!
I have been straightforward in my request. Please get someone to address it immediately and please do not respond with a message that does not deal with my request for a refund for a second time.
Many Thanks in advance,
Ian MacPherson
Hi Petar,
Thanks for your replay.
To put it simpler, my question would be: how can mere mortals, like me, *know* when your IG LS suite of controls gets an upgrade? Maybe going regularly, say once a week, to your web site to check it?
Thanks again and bye ...
