WPF 13.1.20131.2204 XamNumericEditor Mask or Format problem
posted

I have a XamNumericEditor input which has an associated Units combobox. When I select a particular units, the value in the editor is converted to that units. So, I start out with a value of 0.002, and wehn I select a metric units for this value, it converts to 0.00000000000000000604, (0. then 17 0's then 604) and displays this in the editor. When I click into the editor to edit the value, it displays 0.000000000000000000000 (0.0 then 21 0's). Then I can tab out of the editor and it reverts to the ...604 value.

My format and mask for this editor is:

0.0####################

{double:1.21}

How can I fix this?

    Hello,

Thank you for your post. I have been looking into the question that you are having and the reason for this appearance is that the double allows up to 15 decimal digits of precision, although a maximum of 17 digits is maintained internally (you can read more detailed information here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.double.aspx#Precision). After that number of digits (and until reaching the minimum/maxumum value of the double type) the double values are displayed in exponential format (here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dwhawy9k(v=vs.110).aspx#EFormatString,  you can find more details on the exponential formatting) and since the XamNumericInput does not currently provides mask for exponential format of the double values, only the zeroes are appearing it edit mode.

What I can suggest submitting a new Product Idea for having mask for the exponential format of the double values. You can suggest new Product Ideas for future versions (or vote for existing ones) at http://ideas.infragistics.com.

    Steps to create your idea:

    1. Log into the Infragistics Product Ideas site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).
    2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)
    3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible. Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can’t be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!

The benefits of submitting the product idea yourself include:

    -          Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.

    -          Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.

Additional benefits of the Product Idea system include:

    -          Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you.  You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.

    -          Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.

    -          You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.

The product ideas site allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.

    Thank you for contacting Infragistics.

    Sincerely,
