When will Utilmate UI for Windows support .net core 3.1 and have Visual Studios Toolbox integration?
Thanks
Hello John,
Thank you for your post!
We have recently completed .NET Core 3.1 support and are now working on the toolbox support. We are running into a couple of issues internally due to some breaking changes made in .NET Core 3.1, but we can ideally have .NET Core 3.1 support and toolbox support with our 20.1 release in April.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns on this matter.
One more vote for this, Andrew! Don't think that John is alone in wanting to migrate WinForms to .NET Code 3.1!
We are also waiting for the 20.1 release with .NET Core Support 3.1. I was hoping for a release in April as mentioned here. Nothing available yet unfortunately.
The 20.1 release is scheduled to go out May 19th
I think Infragistics considers that winforms-on-core is still "preview". It sounds like their goal is to support the designer more fully once .Net core 5 is available.
Have you tried to investigate how easy it is to build a winforms app using the native, Microsoft controls? I suspect that there may be a good reason why the Infragistics folks consider this stuff to be in preview (still). I doubt that there were a ton of winforms programmers downloading the Microsoft preview versions of this stuff for Visual Studio to test things out... so I suspect there are still quite a lot of kinks to work thru.

In the meantime, perhaps you might want investigate other modern technologies for building user interfaces like WPF or client-side Blazor. Those are continuing to get lots of attention in the .Net community. (eg. WPF has already had a .Net core designer for a very long time.)
I downloaded the latest 20.1 and created a .NET Core 3.1 Windows Form project. I see all of the new Windows Form components in the toolbox but none of the Infragistic controls. I Rest the Toolbox and tried to Chose Items with no luck. For a .net Framework project, I can see the controls , juts not .Net Core. Any ideas when support for .Net Core Win Forms will truly be in place?
Thank you Mike for your feedback!
