I'm seeing a generic "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." This on 10.9.1. Is there a fix?
The software version is Infragistics NUCLiOS 2013 Volume 2 Trial.
Hello Caylan,
Sometimes the reason for this issue is that the logged in user does not have permission as an admin. Could you answer the following questions:
To troubleshoot this, please send an installation log file?
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
I rebooted and installed. Same error. I've double-checked my security settings and it is permissive. I'm a Mac dev, installing lots of software, and I have not had any other problems in the past.
Hi Caylan,
I did some research on similar issues with installing pkg-based installer and in one of those threads it was a permission issue on the pkg file. Could you give read/write access on the downloaded pkg file and try running the installer. if you still see the issue, please try to give read/write access no "/Developer" folder and re-try.
I'm sorry that this is taking long but it is difficult to work on such issues when we are not able to reproduce it internally and when the log information is so generic as in this case.
I hope this does the trick. Please let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Ammar
I've verified/repaired permissions - still shows error
I ran "chmod -R go+w /Developer" - still shows error
I'm available for Skype screenshare with you if you would like to see this first hand.
The package looks good as far as pkgutil is concerned:

Can you try
chmod -R 777 /Developer
No change. So strange... I have a project I'd like to start working on, so please consider this a high priority. I'm available via Skype to troubleshoot this.
Ammar sent me a zip file with a shell script. I was able to manually install the trial. The pkg still does not work on my system. Feel free to contact me if you come up with a solution.
I have been contacted by Ammar informing me that you were successfully able to install the trial. At this time if you have any further questions or concerns do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again.
