When I try to edit the Columns collection from the properties window I get this message. Could not load file or assembly "Infragistics4.WebUI.Design.Win.v11.1, ......lots more". The system cannot find the file specified. This same error happens for a number of the properties. I've executed a repair on the installation, and searched for the assembly in the Infragistics installation folders, and in the GAC, but have had no success.
Can anyone help solve this?
Thanks,
Lee Roper -
Hello Lee,
The mentioned by you assembly and the other assemblies of this type (with “Win” in them) are normally used to provide Visual Studio designer support for our controls.
These assemblies are part of the installation package for ASP.NET controls and should be available in machine GAC.
They are then used by the Visual Studio designer.
If your ASP.NET controls are installed correctly you should be able to see this assembly in the GAC (Windows 7 x64):
Can you tell me what install package do you use and what is your Operating System?
Can you put the dll somewhere I can access it?
Thanks Alex,
Lee
When new versions of our controls are installed they do not remove or modify previous installations. That is why you can have 10.3, 11.1 and 11.2 installed on the same machine at the same time.
What you can do is to install controls with version 11.1 on your machine again. This will add all needed files and will register them in the GAC.
We do not provide isolated assemblies for download because this actually is in contradiction with our license agreement.
Install 11.1 package again and let me know if the needed assemblies are registered in GAC.
Hi Alex.
Well, can you explain to me why the repair on the last install of v11.1 still gives me the same error when I try to modify columns, etc., via the designer?
Look Alex, I'm not trying to be trouble to you or anyone else. I'm a very reasonable guy. I simply would like to use your product the way it is advertised. That's all. I get paid well. My time is valuable and I'm expensive to my company because I get paid well. I really don't need to be having these kinds of issues over a simple dll. As far as the license agreement, there is something called the "letter" of the law, and there's something called the "spirit" of the law. If I'm supposed to have this dll when I install the package, what is the big deal over letting me have it so I can move on and do my job? I just don't get it....the silly nickpicking over this.
But, if that's the way it is, allow me to review (so someone at Infragistics can perhaps tell me what I can do to actually use the designer)...
This is the nuts and bolts of this problem:
I put a webdatagrid (build 1006 as indicated in the toolbox) onto the form. In the properties window for the grid I click Columns. Then I get the following error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Infragistics4.WebUI.Design.Win.v11.1, Version 11.1.20111.2036, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7dd5c3163f2cd0cb' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Where does this assembly come from? I'm told to reinstall. I do. Doesn't help. I run a repair. Still no help. I reinstall once more. Same error.
Please tell me, what am I supposed to do to resolve my problem?

Hello Adrian,
The most recent service release for NetAdvantage for ASP.NET 2011 Vol. 1 is currently 11.1.20111.2238, which can be downloaded from the Infragistics website. The service releases are cumulative so anything that was in 2178 would also be included in 2238. If you specifically need 2178 please let me know and I can have a private case created so that I can provide you with the specific build that you require.
Hi - I would like to download a service release version 11.1.20111.2178 but can't see it anywhere. How do I find this?
thanks
Adrian
Hello Jason,
That did the trick. Simple. Cool.
Thank you!
Lee..
If you check the references for the application or do a text search through it do you find build 2036 anywhere? Do you have any assemblies in the bin folder? If so, what is their build number? For anywhere that you find one of these, please try changing the reference to 1006. Does this resolve the issue for you?
It sounds like there is some sort of conflict in the application where there is something hanging on to build 2036. This could be anything from a stray entry in the licenses.licx file to a dependency assembly that was compiled against build 2036 while the rest of your application uses 1006. If you would like, I could set up a call or a remote sharing session so that we can look at this together.
So you are aware of why there is a build number discrepancy, build 11.1.20111.2036 is one of the service releases that we shipped to fix issues after 11.1 was released. The release build of 11.1 was 11.1.20111.1006 which is why you see that version when you are installing. The current service release at this time is build 11.1.20111.2178. If you would like this latest service, log in to ‘My IG’ and select ‘Keys & Downloads’. Select the NetAdvantage tab and then click on the product name. The available service releases should now be listed on the page underneath the tab control. If you would like build 11.1.20111.2036 specifically please let us know and we can host a download of this specific version for you.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance or if you would like to have the call to analyze this issue in more detail.
