Hello,
As per the current online documentation (http://help.infragistics.com/NetAdvantage/ASPNET/2011.1/CLR4.0/?page=WebUpload_Known_Issues.html), the WebUpload control currently has the following known issue:
4. When you want to upload files and the browser displays a pop-window to select items from your local drives, you are able to select only one file at a time.
Are there any current plans to enhance the control to eliminate this issue (i.e. be able to select multiple files at the same time from the pop-window)? If so, is there a rough timeline for when that might become available?
(Our client would to be able to select multiple files from the same folder without having to re-open the file selection dialog each time.)
Thanks!
Jamie
Hello Jamie,
Thank you for posting on Infragistics forum.
The described by you behavior is known browser limitation – most of the browsers do not support multiple selection and WebForms/JavaScript controls are restricted by this limitation.
The available now a solution for this limitation is to use Flash or Silverlight components as part of the controls or for the control itself.
I have logged this functionality as a Feature Request in our Feature Tracking System since many other users are requiring the same functionality and our R&D team is researching the possible workarounds for this limitation.
We are planning to add this or similar functionality in our future versions (most probably in 11.2 version until the end of this year or in version 12.1 next year) of “WebUpload” control.
Let me know if you need further information about this question.

Hey Alex,
Thanks for your response. I had been suspecting that I might have to get into Silverlight or Flash for a workaround. My client is willing to go with a 3rd-party control for a solution, and since we're already using the Infragistics ASP.NET controls quite heavily in the project, we'd look to you first. (I'd rather not have to look into yet another vendor to acquire this functionality...)
Is there any chance that you could update this thread with the feature tracking reference number, so that it will be easier to ask about it in the future?
Also, if you have any inside info about whether it will make the cut for 2011.2, that would be greatly appreciated! (And whether that's looking like it will be a Sep/Oct release, or more like a Nov/Dec release... I might be able to stall the client until 2011.2, but likely won't be able to stall them until 2012.1...)
I have sent your feature request directly to our product management team.
Our product team chooses new feature requests for development based on popular feedback from our customer base.
If your feature is chosen for development, you will be notified at that time.
Your reference number for this feature request is FR13561 – “Select multiple files at once and upload them”.
If you would like to follow up on your feature request at a later point, you may contact Developer Support management via email.
Please include the reference number of your feature request in the subject and body of your email message. You can reach Developer Support management through the following email address: dsmanager@infragistics.com
Thank you for your request.
Hello Alexander,
I'm also interested in that feature. What can I do to give "popular feedback from your customer base"? Is there a place to vote for features?
Best regards,
Frank
Hi Jamie,
It will be implemented - I suppose we can includ it for 12.1.
The main limitation here is the support for multiple file selection in different browsers for input type="file" - for instance IE9 or lower versions does not support multiple files selections in browse dialog.
Thanks,
Miro Hristov
We are going to need multiple-file-upload capabilities within the next few weeks. Do you have an update on how FR13561 is doing? Does it seem like it will make it into 2011 v2? If so, do you have a rough time frame for when 2011 v2 will be released?
Let me know if you need further assistance with this question.
Hello Frank,
If you want to see this feature implemented, feel free to submit feature request on the following link - http://devcenter.infragistics.com/Protected/RequestFeature.aspx
Thank you for using Infragistics components.
