WebDialog and WebCombo not working

Having just posted my previous message about the WebDialog and WebDateChooser, I thought I would try the WebDialog with a WebCombo.

I again created a simple web page with a single button to display the WebDialog. In the WebDialog I placed a WebCombo bound to an SQLDataSource linked to a single table with three columns.

Clicking the button displays the WebDialog and the WebCombo. Clicking the drop down for the WebCombo appears to do nothing, but closing the WebDialog leaves the drop down portion of the WebCombo displayed.

Click the selection in the drop down and it disappears. Then again click the button to bring up the WebDialog, and the WebCombo is showing the selection you have just made.

Note that I have tried placing a standard dropdownlist control on the WebDialog, and this works just fine !!!

Will I have the same problems with all Infragistic controls that have some form of drop down ?

Surely someone tried basic testing such as this before releasing the latest version.

I have just tried the same experiment but instead using a UltraWebMenu control in the WebDialog.

Again the menu control does not display any of the drop down sub menus.

Just when I thought that the WebDialog would solve many of my problems !!

Been looking into this deeper. In my attempts I wasn't able to modify the z-index of the dialog window in a modal scenario, with out some script. The z-index that you set in CSS only applies for a non-modal scenario it looks like. I'm not sure if there's a bug here or if that's the intended behavior, but I've fired off a couple of emails to verify. Either way, here's a bit of trick javscript to force the dialog window to use a z-index that you want. It replaces one of the WebDialogWindow private functions which is generally a no-no, but until I find a better way to do this through the public API, the script below will have to suffice. I added mine to the pageLoad client-side function, so that it will get executed during the pageLoad event (fired by AJAX). The only thing you really need to modify is the line where you see zIndex=100. In the script included with the product this is 99999.

Thanks for the quick fix, it works perfectly !!!

I can now plan to use the new WebDialog in my current develpment. If you discover more about this behaviour, I would be interested in hearing

That work only if you open webdialogwindow client side, if you open web dialog window server side does not work.
