I would like to set the width and height of the Ultrachart using javascript. This is for charttype gantt.

The chart is generated on the server, so if you change the width and the height using javascript on the browser, the quality of the image will be not good.

In the function resize image in th example I need to adjust the width and the height of the Gantt Chart. I was planning to set the height and width of Gantt via javascript. How would I do this?
You need to generate a new chart (image) every time when you change the height and/or width. You can try looking at "Interaction with the WebGauge" sample:
