extended row select not working

I've got a grid that I'm trying to setup with Row Selection type set to 'Extended', but when I load it and try to select multiple rows (holding the ctrl or shift key) it does not allow me to select multiple rows. I am pulling back a datareader and setting the grid's datasource to it. I've seen this post: http://forums.infragistics.com/forums/p/2165/21881.aspx#21881 but the suggestions there did not help. Thanks!

    Uh, scratch that. It is working. The problem was that, until I changed the selected row background color, there was not visual indication that the row(s) were being selected.
