Will Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NET classic controls support IE9 during the beta? This is going to be an important update to IE9 and I need to make sure our apps are ready when it's released, not afterwards.
Cheers, Rob.
Hi, Any updates on this from Infragistics?
Thanks
Deathly silence is always worrying. However, I'm going to be optimistic today and assume that's because nobody from Infragistics has already read the post.
I tried my website with the beta version of IE9 and lots of it didn't work. I'm using the classic ASP.NET controls but 2009 Vol 1. Have been putting off upgrading to latest version on the assumption that if it's working , don't fix it ;-)
Hello Rob,
We are still looking at IE 9 Beta and how to best support our customers with the next generation of IE browser. The new ASP.NET AJAX controlset will definiltey support it fully when IE 9 RTMs. The ASP.NET Team is currently heads down getting the next release out the door. Since IE 9 is still in Beta, we will make a official statement once we gather more details on the new browser, and capture things like breaking changes it might introduce in our toolset. If you are using IE 9 beta and are running into issues, we are taking them through our developer support and will look at them.

The last I heard was that the Classic Controls will not be supported for IE 9. Any discussion on whether Classic Controls will be included for IE 9?
If this is the case, then they should have stopped selling the classic controls months ago. They run the risk of upsetting a lot of new customers.
To be honest, I think this might be the final straw re: my use of NetAdvantage. It's just been too bumpy a ride over the years and I haven't got time to re-work some of my older sites with the new controls.
Lack of complete Chrome support is also starting to annoy as Chrome take up is increasing every day. IMO it's beyond an "also ran" browser especially as JavaScript is just so speedy.
IE 9 support plans announced...

It does look like IE9 will have an IE8 compatability mode like before:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2010/09/29/ie9-s-faster-more-capable-compatibility-view-list.aspx
But it will still be a real shame if NetAdvantage based websites cannot take advantage of the increased compatability and faster JavaScript engine just because Infragistics can't be bothered or, worse, don't have the technical skills or resources to make it compatible.
One of the selling points for using 3rd party controls is that you should not have to be concerned with continually releasing and re-factoring one's web sites.
