Hi,
I've tried contacting the support chat since Friday.
But after a couble of minutes the chat stops working. First, I used Firefox, there the status bar where the load status of the page is usually shown it simply says "stopped". I've tried clicking the provided refresh button and also reload of the page, but nothing happens anymore.
When I then try to start a new chat the page to start a new chat in FF (after selecting the Queue and hitting "send chat request") the page keeps loading but never finishes and there's no content.
So I've tried it in IE, there I get the Chat window to open and it says to wait for an infragistics representative, but that's about all. IE seems to stop right there, though it's not so imformative like FF. I've got the IE chat window open for about ten minutes now, but noone entered, yet, so I assume that it also stopped.
Are there any known issues with the chat? It worked fine on my machine some days ago and I didn't change anything on this machine for quite some time now ...
I'm not aware of any specific issues that would explain the behavior you're seeing. I've seen plenty of support chats come in today (I didn't have the chance to check yesterday), which confirms that there aren't any system-wide issues occurring.
Do you have a popup blocker active? It sounds like you're getting the chat page popup, though I'm not 100% certain based on the information provided.
What versions of IE and/or Firefox are you using?
I'm using FF 3.5.1 and IE 8. And in case you're wondering, I'm running on Windows Server 2008.
In FF the Popups aren't blocked, in IE I allow them when they crop up.
The curious thing is, in FF it worked when I started the first request and then it just suddenly stopped. None of the scripts seems to be working anymore then. When I then try to start a new request the page where you pick the topic (like Wingrid, Webgrid, etc) doesn't work anymore, too. As I said, IE always gets the chat window open, but that's about all. I'm not certain whether the chat window really is stopped, but I guess it's a fair indication when after half an hour nothings happened.
Then again, I've tried it on a VM and there it worked just fine (also using IE 8).
I know there where some issues with cookies in your forums some time back (ok, it was somewhat over a year ago), could it be something similar?
Anyway, as it seems to be somehow restricted to my machine and I'm still able to access the dev chats through my VM it's not really that much of a matter now. It's good to know that it's not a general problem, though.
Short Update:
I just tried it on a different VM in IE 8 - which didn't work.
Then I went back to the VM on which it worked yesterday, there it didn't work now, too.
Finally I stumbled of the enhanced IE security, disabled it and ... it work on the VM.
I'll keep an eye on it. But on my physical machine I've got IE enhanced security disabled first thing after setting the OS up and FF isn't affected by that crap (at least I certainly hope so ;) ).
Thanks very much for the update. This definitely suggests some kind of security setting as the likely cause.
Please keep us updated. Either I or a colleague will post here if we find anything on our end.
