Brian Lagunas / Wednesday, December 16, 2020 With today's launch, we are very excited to get Infragistics Ultimate 20.2 into your hands. Infragistics Ultimate 20.2 builds on four key themes: Innovating New Products for Cross Platform App Development .NET 5 Support for Windows Forms and WPF Best of Breed Modern Web (Angular, Blazor, React, and Web Components) Changing the Way You Design, Test, and Build Apps with App Builder Let’s look at these areas in more detail. Innovating New Products for Cross Platform App Development As the technology for cross platform app development evolves, so does Infragistics Ultimate UI. You can now take advantage of the most modern cross platform frameworks to build your next application using the best grids and charts that Infragistics has to offer. Infragistics Ultimate UI is architected for high-speed rendering, delivering the fastest UX possible for your apps including feature rich APIs and the guidance you need to build modern cross platform experiences in desktop, mobile, and web browsers. Today’s release of Infragistics Ultimate 20.2 comes with three brand new products for building cross platform desktop, mobile, and web applications. Ultimate UI for Uno Platform Ultimate UI for UWP Ultimate UI for WinUI Each of these products will be shipping as a Preview and will include the following controls: Bullet Graph Category Chart Data Chart - with over 50 chart types Data Grid Doughnut Chart Linear Gauge Pie Chart Radial Gauge Sparkline If you’re not familiar with either of these three technologies, here is a quick summary: Uno Platform The Uno Platform is a Universal Windows Platform Bridge that allows UWP-based .NET code (C# and XAML) to run on iOS, Android, macOS, WebAssembly, Linux and Windows 7 using a single codebase. This allows you to build cross platform applications for desktop, mobile, and web using Visual Studio, C#, XAML, and the UWP APIs and tooling. You can also take advantage of powerful Visual Studio features such as XAML Hot Reload and C# Edit and Continue during the development process. Uno also provides support for the popular Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) design pattern on all platforms, with binding, styling, custom controls and data-templating features. If you’re a Prism developer, you can even use Prism in your Uno applications. UWP UWP is Microsoft’s latest platform for creating cross platform client applications for Windows 10 devices such as PC, Xbox, Surface, Surface Hub, HoloLens, and IoT devices. UWP apps can make use of WinRT APIs, Win32 APIs, and .Net Classes to provide powerful applications that can run across multiple platforms with a single codebase. WinUI The Windows UI Library (WinUI) is a native user experience (UX) framework for both Windows Desktop and UWP apps. Simply put, WinUI is a set of UI controls based on the Fluent Design System that have been decoupled from the Windows 10 SDK to be used in your MFC, WinForms, WPF, or UWP apps. You can think of WinUI as being the path forward for all Windows apps. You can use WinUI to compose your UI layer in native UWP or Win32 apps, or modernize your existing desktop applications piece by piece with the use of XAML Islands. No matter which technology you choose to build your cross-platform applications, Infragistics Ultimate UI has you covered. .NET 5 Support With 20.2, we are shipping full support for the Microsoft’s newest release of .NET 5 in both our Windows Forms and WPF products. Arguably the biggest release of .NET since its inception, .NET 5 brings a huge improvement in what developers can achieve within the .Net ecosystem. Modernize your desktop applications with .NET 5 and gain better performance, side-by-side installations, self-contained applications, and apps that are decoupled from the Windows OS. Not only that, but you’ll get to work with the latest .NET 5 CLI tools and SDK-style projects in Visual Studio, and code against the latest C# 9 language features. It’s also worth mentioning that Infragistics Ultimate UI for WPF will support both the Visual Studio Toolbox and the new Visual Studio designer for both our .NET Core 3.1 and .NET 5 versions of our assemblies. We are in the process of adding the new designer support for Ultimate UI for WinForms and we will release it as soon as it is ready.
