I have a similar issue. I have tracked it down to WPF v12.2 and .Net 4. It breaks if .Net 4 is the only thing installed. If .Net 4.5 is installed then it works... Seen similar issue with other vendors grid.

I would like to morph this ticket a bit.  I would be curious about your reply to my previous posts, but even more interested in the following.  Could you please share a project where you have a XamDataGrid and a XamDataPresenter bound to some design time data object that displays properly in the VS2010 designer?  I am trying to setup a simple design time object to work in the VS2010 designer, and I get the same exception reported in my original post.  When I use my same technique with a standard ListBox, everything works fine.  Please make sure the sample code is hosted in a UserControl.

Are you able to reproduce the issue with my code?

I have come across the same exception in another scenario when I put some code in a UserControl constructor that sets the DataContext while in designmode.  Its odd that its the same exception.
