I have right clicked on NetAdvantage_Ultimate_20121.exe and selected Run as Administrator. I have already installed the libraries for Silverlight, WPF, and WinForms but I have yet to get the Help to install. During the installation of the help I do see the VS2010 Help folder get created under the WPF folder but then there is an installer error and it roles it back and removes the Help folder and files.
WPF Help: An error occurred while installing WPF Help. Please, make sure Visual Studio 2010 is configured to use local hlep (from Help -> Manage Help Settings).
My help settings are already set to use Local Help and I have already installed not only the local .NET Help but also the local help for another set of Visual Studio libraries.
If anyone knows what I am doing wrong with getting the Infragistics help installed please let me know.
Hello Eric,
Thank you for your post. I have been looking into it and if it is possible for you, could you please send me the log files from the Logs folder placed in the NetAdvantage_20121_PlatformInstaller folder, so I could be able to investigate this further for you.
Looking forward for your reply.
Hey Stefan, sorry for my late response; I am not sure where the NetAdvantage_20121_PlatformInstaller folder would be. I have the folder on my desktop that contains the NetAdvantage_Ultimate_20121.exe, NetAdvantage_Ultimate_20121.exe.config and a Setups folder. Now there is a Log Files folder in there with several text files. There are 3 for WPF, 3 for WinForms, one about a VersionUtility and one IGPlatformInstall.log. Please let me know which file I should be looking at.
When I tried to install for WinForms and WPF both help installs failed. From the install dialog I can get to a link for NetAdvantage_WPF_20121_VS2010Help.msi.txt and NetAdvantage_WinForms_20121_VS2010Help.msi.txt. These error logs are on a disconnected system not attached to the internet so I cannot send them to you.
I looked for the word "error" in the log and this is what I found.
CustomAction RegisterHelp returned actual error code 401 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

A little farther down in the file I see this line.

Please let me know what you think and what I should try next.
Thanks,

I am just checking the progress of this issue and was wondering if you managed to achieve your goal or if you need any further assistance on the matter.
Hey I am sorry it took so long to reply. I tried to install the help again and after the error I went to the Windows Logs/Application and I see two Errors one for MsiInstaller (11722) and the second for HelpLibManager. (1003). I think the second is more telling. It says ...
An error occurred while updating local content: Microsoft.Help.CacheLib.CacheLibCabSignatureException: The digital signature on file c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\HelpLibrary\content\Infragistics, Inc\incoming\.....\Infragistics_WPFAPI_v12_1.cap could not be verified.
The rest looks like an error stack trace. I can include more info if you think it would help.
Hello,
I am just checking the progress of this issue and was wondering you need any further assistance on the matter.
Hello Jamie,
I have created a private case for you (CAS-11418-F5M2Z5), where you can send me the log files.
I'm having the same issue with any of the help files. Here is the message I get in the Windows Application error log:
Event 1012, HelpLibManager
In silent mode, you must pass the /content switch if the content folder has not already been created.
Reviewing the NetAdvantage_WinForms_20122_Help.msi.txt file, it seems that the operation to register the help is missing the mandatory /content switch:
CustomActionSchedule(Action=RegisterHelpVS2010,ActionType=1058,Source=C:\Users\laramit\AppData\Roaming\,Target=c:\Program Files\Microsoft Help Viewer\v1.0\helplibmanager /silent /product "VS" /version 100 /locale en-US /install /sourceMedia "C:\Program Files (x86)\Infragistics\NetAdvantage 2012.2\Windows Forms\Help\helpcontentsetup.msha",)
Hi Stefan,
Thanks for getting back so quickly , can you confrim the logs will not be available to anyone through the website(only available to you) as license details can be clearly seen in the logs.
Thanks
Jamie
You can attach the log files to the post, while composing it, on the top there is an "Options" tab where you can choose a file to upload.
Hi Sefan,
I am also having this issue when installing the help files, The system setup is Windows 7 x64, Office 2010(x32) , Visual Studio 2010 Premium. I can upload the log files created during installation if you let me know where to send them. The erorr is relating to custom action RegisterHelpVS2010 in the "NetAdvantage_WinForms_20112_VS2010Help.msi".
Thanks Jamie
