Is is possible to do grouping of columns in xamDataGrid like in the xamGrid?

I've attached a project where column grouping is implemented in xamGrid - it is possible to rearrange order of column groups and order of columns within a group, but it is not possible to move a column out of a column group. This is the behavior we need, but in xamDataGrid - it this possible to achieve?

While the sample listed on the second thread is interesting, it does not fulfill our requirements (it is possible to move columns out of the column group). We basically have the same requirements as the user 'marjones', but you did not answer his last message in the first thread.
