Implementing column selection

is it possible to have a whole column highlited when a user clicks on the label for that column?

Hi Martin -

To highlight the cells in a particular column when the column header is clicked, you will need to set the FieldSettings.LabelClickAction to 'SelectField'.

You can set this for all Fields by accessing the FieldSettings object on the XamDataGrid, or you can set it for a particular Field by accessing the Settings property (which returns a FieldSettings object) of a particular Field.

thanks, that did the trick. How would i go about to change the style used to highlight the column?

Hi Martin -

If you just want to change the colors that are used for cells that are in the selected column, you would need to restyle the CellValuePresenter and provide Setters for the BackgroundFieldSelected (of type Brush) and ForegroundFieldSelectedStyle (of type Style) properties.

    <Setter.Value>

        <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,1">

            <GradientStop Offset="0" Color="#FFDDDDDD"/>

            <GradientStop Offset="1.1" Color="#00FFFFFF"/>

        </LinearGradientBrush>

    </Setter.Value>

</Setter>

<Setter Property="ForegroundStyle">

    <Setter.Value>

<Style>

<Setter Property="TextBlock.Foreground" Value="#FF000000" />

</Style>

    </Setter.Value>

</Setter>

If you want to change other aspects of the cells you may need to re-template the CellValuePresenter (i.e., provide a custom Style and set its Template property)
