I resolved the issue today. By sheer luck. Try and comment out the FieldSetting xaml I try and open in blend. Please let me know how you go!

I am not sure of this WPF.dll, I dont see it when trying to add reference.

The error message is "the document failed to open. The given assembly name or code base is invalid"

Maybe there is some way I can ignore the XAML.

Any help would be much appreiated

I am using version Net Advantage .NET 2009.1

I will try to add this reference. Design view in visual studio 2010 has no problems it was just Expression Blend 4 that I experence the issue.
