XamDataGrid SelectedDataItems 2 way binding

<dataPresenter:XamDataGrid SelectedDataItems="{Binding SelectedItems, Mode=TwoWay}" ...

and then in a ViewModel I tried to clear the selections by

SelectedItems = null;

but its not working
