Hello
I've evaluated xamDiagram to use.
One thing that I'm not sure is that wheather there's a method that I can set multi xamDiagramNode as a group(like "grouping object" menu in powerpoint).
After that I'd like to move it as if it's originally one xamDiagramNode. I'd like to make this happen in code behind with MVVM.
I'm attaching a picture describing more in detail.
Please let me know if there's any way or hint how to implement.
thank you.
Hello jswpro,
Thank you for reaching out. The nodes are flexible enough to be reconfigured for repositioned, sized, shaped, and connection purposes.
Grouping diagram nodes is not a included feature for the XamDiagram control. I recommend submitting this as a new product idea on our website.
You can suggest new product ideas for future versions (or vote for existing ones) at <http://ideas.infragistics.com>.
There are many benefits to submitting a product idea:
Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether. You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
Steps to create your idea:
1. Log into the Infragistics Product Idea site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).
2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)
3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible.
- Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can't be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!
- Include a link to this thread in your idea so product management will be able to look back at this case.
The Product Idea site puts you in the driver's seat and allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.
Thank you for quick response.
I posted an idea after your guide. I hope this will take it as an implementing item.
By the way I need a workaround in the mean time. Please share your idea if my approach is good enough to try on.
=======Scenario======
1. Brings Systems and Ports from XML.
2. Custom Nodes created in code behind for each of system and port feature. (Ports are inside of a system)
3. They are displayed evenly in the xamDiagramCanvas with connection between ports.
4. For user to move system as a group, user can pick one of system or port, then every single node including the system node selected. (as if selecting area function that xamDiagram provided basically) so it move as a group.
When I think about the scenario, Everything might be possible to implement except one thing that I'm not sure how to call selecting area method in code behind with argument of area position.
Please help me on this.
Hello,
I recommend reading the following post in our online help about the various data sources supported by the XamDiagram.http://help.infragistics.com/doc/WPF/2016.1/CLR4.0/?page=xamDiagram_Binding_to_Data.html
Essentially, the xamDiagram can only accept data received from an IEnumerable type. Any data you intend to load from XML to the diagram needs to be loaded into a view model that the diagram can bind to.
I've linked your recent post to your product idea so our team has a better understanding of your requirement.
Thanks and let me know if you have any additional questions regarding this matter.
