Japan / Kanji localisation support
posted

Hello,

I have an application that uses Infragistics WinForms v2013.2.  The UI is currently in English.

I'm investigating the effort required to support localisation for Japanese / Kanji.   From the perspective of the Infragistics WinForms v2013.2 assemblies, do these support Japanese resource files or is there a separate Japanese version of WinForms v2013.2 that is reasonably compatible with the English version (from a C# code perspective).

If so, can you please outline how I obtain these, as I haven't been able to locate the links for these on English version of the Infragistics website.

With thanks in advance.

    Hello RFPCymba,

Yes, we provide a separate Japanese installer package for Windows Forms.  The design-time UI, run-time UI, APIs, samples, and help are in Japanese.  This installer accepts different keys than the English installer.

The same code you use to create an application with the English product can be used with the Japanese product.  They are built from the same code base, and resource files are used for the localizable content.  I don't think that the source code bundles contain the Japanese resource files, but I'm not sure.  If they do, the product source would have to be rebuilt and signed in order to use them.  I would still recommend using the Japanese installer.  For everything to appear in Japanese, the product would have to be installed on a Japanese operating system.

If you are already registered on the Japanese website, you can download the installer here.  Note that an account from infragistics.com (English site) will not be able to log in on this site.

Otherwise, I would recommend contacting either the English sales team or the Japanese sales team to see if you can swap one English license for the Japanese license, or something similar.  Contact information is listed here.
