Based on a previous post by another user it seems that it is possible to customize the background of dayview.
For example, I need the following:
on Mondays for Resources 1, I want to "reserve" 9am to 1pm for new patient only by color coding that time interval and the rest of the day the see any kind of patient.
How would the user one enter such a pattern? I would assume that the easiest way would be just like an appointment so that reoccuring and such would be handled.

The Owner class actually does expose a RecurringDayOfWeekSettings class which combines TimeSlot coloring functionality with the recurrence engine we use to generate recurring appointments.
In your case, however, I think you just need to use the Owner.DayOfWeekSettings collection, since your recurrence pattern is simple enough to define with a DayOfWeek pattern.
