Since upgrading to version 8.1, I noticed that the dropdown button in the menu has changed its appearance. When set to large, the button now displays a horizontal line across the centre when highlighted, so it now looks like a split button type, even if it is not a split button type. This seems a needless change to me, as before only proper split buttons showed that line, to indicate that there was different behaviour between the upper and lower portions of the button.

With the change, now every dropdown looks as though there is different behaviour between the upper and lower portions, even though there is not.

This also now diverges from the Office 2007 look and feel, as in the Office 2007 ribbons, only Split buttons show this line.

What was the reason for this change?
