I'm getting a failure trying to use the Visual Studio Upgrade Add-In. It says to check the "Add In Error Log". Where is that?
Thanks,
Douglas
Douglas,
The log should have been placed in the project folder of the project you were upgrading. What version of WinForms are you using? Do you have just the RTM installed, or have you applied any service releases? What Visual Studio are you using?
I'm getting the same error upgrading an ASP.NET 3.5 2009.1 project to 2009.2 using the add-in.
Log is nowhere in the project tree.
The standalone Upgrade utility seems to have worked as advertised.
I gave up trying to get the VS addin upgrade utility to work many years ago. It just never worked for me even on a clean build Windows XP VM. I even raised support calls on it but never got a resolution except "Use the standalone utility" - which has always worked.
They should just remove the addin from the standard install as it probably causes more problems than it's worth.
And a wish on this upgrade tool - let it understand solutions so we can upgrade in one step instead of having to add the website and DLL modules individually.
Cheers, Rob
