I'm writing a new screen for an Application which allows the user to select meals are to be allowed for each day within a range. As such I want to be able to have a single column in my UltraGrid labelled for example 'Sunday', but then 3 check boxes within that column. I don't seem to be able to find a way to do this - is it possible or is there a different control I could use to do something similar?
Hello Chris,
I have been investigating into this issue, and I believe I will need a little bit of extra information from you on this matter. Would it be possible for you to please provide some information regarding the following?
1. Are you looking to use group column functionality in this case? From the description of this thread, it appears so. For example, please take a look at the screenshot at the bottom of this documentation article. Can you please confirm that you are looking for functionality similar to this?
2. I’m a little bit unsure of the checkbox behavior you are looking for in this case? Are you looking to be able to place 3 checkboxes within each cell belonging to your column, or perhaps something different? Do you have a screenshot or mock-up that shows what you are looking to achieve in this case?
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns on this matter.
Thanks for the suggestion - the linked screenshot does look similar.but what I am trying to achieve is slightly more complex I think as in the screenshot below.
Not overly clear but essentially I need to dynamically create a number of columns for individual dates and then have 3 check boxes for each day so that the user can select if they have breakfast, lunch or dinner on that day.
At the moment i am trying to set this up using 2 grids - the first just has the first line of headings and the second is immediately below it with the second line of headings and the data. It will probably work but is messy as I need to keep the day columns aligned with the checkbox columns in the second grid.
This would be straight forward in the WebDataGrid as I can define templates for each column/cell.
Thank you for your update and the screenshot!
I have been discussing this with our development team, and I have to wonder if the scenario where each of the “date” columns would serve as a parent group-column header in this case, and then each one would have three child columns with checkboxes inside? As an example, using the documentation article that I had linked above, using the screenshot as an example, your SUN 16/06 column would be in the 2008 (Jan – June) column spot, and where the 1st Quarter and 2nd Quarter columns are, you would have the 3 B, L, and D columns. The overall parent “Expenses” column wouldn’t exist. Would that scenario work for you in this case?
This would greatly simplify what would need to be done in this case, as otherwise you would likely need to use a CreationFilter to get the three checkboxes into the headers, and if you want those to work as a “select / deselect all” function, this could prove to be very complicated and difficult. You would also likely have to do something similar with the cells, or perhaps use a ControlContainerEditor, although I’m not certain of this at the moment.
If the scenario I described at the start would work for you in this case, please let me know, and I can provide some further information on achieving it.
