Hello,
I have been using Infragistics for about a month and it would seem that the documentation provided with this software is not that good. A lot of the examples I see in the documentation just doesn't work. For the last 2 days I have been trying to get a XMLDatSource object working with a WebHierarchicalDataGrid. The example in the documentation is bogus. The Example (http://help.infragistics.com/Help/NetAdvantage/ASPNET/2010.1/CLR3.5/html/WebHierarchicalDataGrid_Binding_to_Xml_Data_Source.html) has two flaws. 1, the xml file doesn't start on /NewDataSet/ and 2, the example for the bands is wrong. The "BrandA" should have been "Product". I wasted 2 days trying to figure out why my code and the infragistics example wasn't working, only to just discover a post from 5 months ago where someone else had the same issue and someone from Infragistics stated that the example was wrong (http://community.infragistics.com/forums/p/60291/307507.aspx). It would seem that the documentation, especially online, would be updated promptly when such errors come to light to prevent considerable frustration on the part of new users. It would also seem appropriate for Infragistics to provide complete documentation of ALL parameters to complex functions. While examples are useful for getting started, they often do not contain sufficient information to extend the work to my own environment and use cases.
Thank you.
Hello ShaneLB,
Thank you for pointing this out. I have logged this issue with our engineering staff as a development issue #103827 so they can examine this further. I have also created case CAS-86029-58C510 for you so that you can track the issue. I will post here after development issue #103827 is resolved.
Let me know if I may be of further assistance.
