What is the best way to work with the dataItem item?  This is a question which involves the complete page lifecycle.  Does one need to keep up with which item was clicked so that every page_load event can reload the data?

    Could you by more specific:
    - what is this "dataItem" you are asking (are you refering the DataTreeNode JS object) ?
    - what is it's connection with the page_load event ?
