Nothing new in 2014.2 except that it is complete removed from the front web page. This is bad, the reporting tools are in dire need of being updated and fixed. The WYSIWYG report designer feels old and is missing a lot of common and practical functions.
Are the reporting components a dead end? Is something new worked upon?
I really must know. Business Critical issues are at stake for me.
Hi Peter,
Did you find an alternative product? I use the reporting tools a lot and share your frustration with the lack of development. I do most of my development in WPF and would be interested to learn if you have found a suitable alternative.
Thanks,
Timothy
Hans,
I understand that there are some important features for you that are currently not included in the reporting and I would like to thank you for submitting your suggestions to the site as the new features are implemented based on customer’s feedback. Our Product Management reviews the suggested functionalities prior to a product update which is why we encourage everyone to log their ideas.
Yes, I know all about that. And I have suggested improvements, some of which are even flagged as 'under consideration'. But so far nothing has come out of it.
And by dodging my questions I can only assume that the reporting part of is something Infragistics don't plan to do anything about and might even remove from the toolkit.
So sad. Oh well. Let's start looking what the other companies are doing in reporting...
Hello Hans and thank you for posting!
We value the customer’s feedback and will be glad if you could log the missing features and functionalities at: http://ideas.infragistics.com/forums/211536-reporting?filter=hot&page=1 so when new implementations are being made those suggestions will be taken into consideration. Below there are additional information about the process and its benefits.Steps to create your idea: 1. Log into the Infragistics Product Ideas site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible. Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can’t be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!
The benefits of submitting the product idea yourself include:- Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.- Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.
Additional benefits of the Product Idea system include:
- Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.- Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.- You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
The product ideas site allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.
