webcombo without grid

Hi,

  I need a dropdown control in which I should be able to populate data dynamically through Ajax when I click on the control. I looked at the webcombo (I have the 2007 volume version 7.1), but I think it requires a grid to be embedded in it. I am looking for a normal dropdown control without any grid in it. but the data should be populated dynamically when user clicks on the control. can I use webcombo for this purpose? if yes, Please let me know how can do it. I couldn't find any setting in it to make it look like a normal dropdown control.
