I have faced a problem while giving to grid column width.

My requirement is like that,

i want to set a coulmn width so that while emny grid/ with data , the coulmns have a specific width.

Now suppose some column row data length is more than the column width. but in this case also the coulmn will display the data as per the coulmn width and rest data will be only see while expanding the column by resizing.

But i could't able to do this. Is it a net advantage problem ? or i have to give any specific attribute/style so that all the avobe senario will work. please help
