Couldn't find a graphic file for dateChooser and wondered if there is a way to change the icon for data chooser from ... to a tiny calendar image such that I do it once and through the application same icon gets used at least when the same theme is in use?

There is no such possibility now. In next Hotfix Release it should be possible to repalce "..." with any text, but not possible to set an icon.
You can post a request to be implemented.
