1.8 was released recently, therefore we couldn't ensure support for it before we released 2012.2 - but we will make sure this is done for the first service release for 2012.2 and the next one for 2012.1. There shouldn't be any major issues & showstoppers, though. I am saying it's just not thoroughly tested for compatibility. 

In the meantime, if you are experiencing specific issues related to 1.8 compatibility, please let me know and i will see if i can help you find a workaround or a temporary patch.
