Default row in grid with desired structure while creating a new record
posted

Hi Team,

I am generating a grid control using MVC helpers.

I am performing CRUD operations on order. When I search a Order, its Order Items (displayed in Grid) are displayed correctly.

But, when I create a new Order, I want to have the same grid (with no records), just the same structure with a default row and all the buttons inside columns with watermark text present by default so that I can add records to it one by one. Attaching a screenshot about the way I want the grid to be displayed initially while creating Order.

In the screenshot, I need the grid similar to this when I try to create the order (by default a row should be displayed).

I have buttons in the columns. When I click on add new item a new row gets added to the grid with similar structure and so on.

    Hello Agraj,

Please note that igGrid does not support this way of adding a new row. Here in our samples browser you can get an idea how igGrid Updating feature works: http://www.igniteui.com/grid/basic-editing. If you want to use your approach, I would suggest you to log a product idea at: http://ideas.infragistics.com

    Steps to create your idea:

    1.       Log into the Infragistics Product Idea site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).
    2.       Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)
    3.       Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible.
    • Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can’t be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!
    • [CASE: “Reference case [case number], FORUMS: “Include a link to this thread”] in your idea so product management will be able to look back at this case.

If I can provide you with further assistance, please let me know.

    Regards,

    Tsanna
