what could be wrong? i'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit, have installed both VS2015 Pro and VS2017 Pro. both IDEs looks fine, i can code and compile with them.
other parts (WinForms, ASP.NET, WPF, etc...) installed without problems. the only problem is with VersionUtility.
VS2017 is fresh installed, one week ago. VS2015 is older and have VersionUtility 2013.1 and 2016.1 installed.
thanks for any help!
Hello Ppecek,
I discussed the log file with the engineering service team and found the information that there is a known issue with installation of Version Utility on machines with Win 7 and VS2017.
Regarding VS2015 , the issue is with VS2017, but it breaks the entire installation, so Version Utility will not get installed on any other versions of Visual Studio that are on the machine.
I will make this case private and attach the development issue with it so that you will be notified when the service release is available.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I am also having this issue. I am unable to install the very latest Infragistics Version Utility or the Visual Studio Extensions. I am using Visual Studio 17.3.1 on Win 7 SP1 x64. Is there any estimate for when a fix for this will be available?
Hello ,
I have escalated the issue and asked out developers to provide the estimated date of the fix.
I will keep posting the information i will get from the developers.
I would like to inform you that the bug is being fixed and the new version is on production.
This service release is available from your My Keys and Downloads Page on the Infragistics Website. To download the service release, select the 'Dev Tools' tab and then select the volume you are using. Finally, select the 'Service Releases' tab and the available service releases will be listed below.
Also note:llease note:In order to get the latest version of the Version Utility, you have to upgrade the Install Wrapper to its latest version. You will be notified that new Install Wrapper is available when you start an older version. When you get the latest Install Wrapper, you have to update the Version Utility to the latest version as well. There is also notification available about that and you can upgrade it through the Install Wrapper. After you install the latest version of Version Utility (17.1.2003) successfully, if you still don't see it under Visual Studio 2017, please do the following: - Close Visual Studio 2017 if it is open - Navigate to "[VS2017 install folder]\Common7\IDE" folder on your machine and open command prompt as administrator - Run the following command: "devenv.exe /setup /nosetupvstemplates" Now Version Utility should be available in VS 2017.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Hello Divya,
it is not on the Service Releases Tab yet. Only a service release for Xamarin has been added yesterday.
Hello Amischke,
Please accept my apologies actually the fix is not available in the ‘Service release tab'.
The information I provided previously came from the standard template saying “This service release is available from your My Keys and Downloads Page” which created little confusion.
Please go through the below note only in order to get the fix of this issue:
"In order to get the latest version of the Version Utility, you have to upgrade the Install Wrapper to its latest version. You will be notified that new Install Wrapper is available when you start an older version. When you get the latest Install Wrapper, you have to update the Version Utility to the latest version as well.
