I like the new look of your forums, but the search is useless.
I did a search on CardView and Card View in the Grid forum...you would think that would show up SOMEWHERE in the forum...nope. Not according to your search results
David, I'm sorry you feel that way. We did an open survey of our customers (advertised in the old forums and in blog posts) prior to making this move, and the overwhelming majority indicated that we should make the move to the new forums without waiting on doing a database import, which due to the differences between the two systems would have delayed the move to the new forums.
Many folks have already been using these forums for a few months now, and now that they're fully live, folks will be posting to them exclusively. The knowledge resevoir here will quickly build up and the initial pain of not importing the old data will fade. Especially since we release new versions of our products so often with fixes and new features, older messages tend to lose value over time as they become no longer applicable, which also eases the pain of not importing the data.
And lastly, as you are now aware, the old forums are indeed still searchable for those who need them. I hope you will find that the new forums do add more value to offset this initial pain.
Cordially,
Ambrose

With respect; you misunderstand why the forums are useful.
The value of *any* forum is its content; being able to search for questions that have been already answered is immensely useful for both users and your support staff (ask Mike S.).
Starting a new forum from scratch, without *at least* importing the old messages pretty much nullifies any other advantages you think you've brought to the community.
Luckily, I saw your link to the old forums, and so I can go find what I need from there.

Thank you for your feedback. Would you know which message in the WinGrid forum contains "CardView" or "Card View" -- and did not come up in through search? I quickly scanned over the subjects of the 98 messages now in the WinGrid forum, and didn't find any that suggested they might be discussing CardView (although just from browsing the subjects, and not reading every one, it's possible I could have missed it.)
I tried making some searches for other keywords like "Summary" and "Row Template" and they turned up numerous matches in subject and in the body text of messages.
Most of the WinGrid forum messages (over 34,000 of them) remain on forums.archive.infragistics.com so you can try searching on there, it is probably much more likely that "CardView" has been discussed in the past several years on our old system than in the more recent past few weeks that our new Forums system has been up. Unfortunately, searching on these Forums does not include search results from the Forums Archive, as they are managed by two different software systems.
Before going with the new system, we sent out a survey over the fall to evaluate how people would feel about not having the old messages carried along on a new forums system, and the results from that survey told us most people didn't think keeping the old messages would be very important to them. It will take a little time for the critical mass of knowledge to build up on this new forums system, but having the strong search features and other benefits it does, we think everyone will like the improvement it brings once they grow accustomed to it.
The forum search is only going to return results from inside of this forum. From doing a quick scan on the posts in the WinGrid forum, I didn't see any posts that screamed out card view was involved.
And after you posted your post, I searched for card view and saw your post.
It may be that no one has posted a message around card view yet.
