We are currently using the NetAdvantage 2010.2 Windows Forms and 2012.2 WPF controls and are looking to upgrade our .Net Framework to 4.5 or 4.6. Before we do this I would like to know if we would also need to upgrade the NetAdvantage package or if the current packages are compatible with the newer frameworks.
Adam,
Support for .NET 4.5 was added with 2012 Volume 1 and support for .NET 4.6 was added with 2015 Volume 1. This information is on our supported environments page.
Let me know if you have any questions.
If the 4.5.2 framework is just an in-place update on top of the .Net 4.0 framework and we still target the 4.0 framework in our applications can we use the WPF controls included in 2012 Vol 1?
We haven't done any testing with the older volume of the toolset on the newer version of the framework so we don't officially support it. The expectation is that it will work though you will want to test your application to make sure that the behavior is still correct.
Note that there are some changes in the runtime that may impact you if you have .NET 4.5.2 installed and are targeting .NET 4.0. For this you will want to review the Application Compatibility in the .NET Framework from the Migration Guide to the .NET Framework 4.6 and 4.5 on MSDN.
Let me know if you have any questions with this matter.
