Designbox for NetAdvantage for Windows Forms

Today we announced the availability of the Designbox Design Library for NetAdvantage Windows Forms.  I’ve been working with Joe Burke, the president of StudioWorks Software (creator of Designbox) for a while now and am excited to see this come to fruition – it is a true value add for our WinForms customers.

Designbox works by introducing new .NET components into the Visual Studio design process called Designbox Designs.  They are basically definitions that can contain property/value information that can be applied to specific target types.    So Designbox is a Visual Studio add-in that allows you to rapidly create NetAdvantage applications by capturing and working with control Designs.  You can store all working Designs into shareable Design Palettes and simply drag and drop finished rich content designs directly onto the design surface.  Designs can be modified on the surface and dragged back to the Designbox where they can be stored for re-use.  This eliminates the ‘drag, drop, set properties’ method traditionally employed by Visual Studio users when working with controls – and saves a ton of time.

While you do need a Designbox license and an Infragistics NetAdvantage for Windows Forms license, the Design Library itself is free.  If you don’t have either (or you have only one of the two) you can download 30-day trials of each product at http://getdesignbox.com/infragistics.  I highly recommend giving it a try.  And if you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it.  You can either post comments below or you can reach me at sfaatz@infragistics.com.
