I am working on a legacy application that is using ultragrid VERSION 10.3 (for winforms)

I have been task to implement the ability to drag and drop external files into the grid for processing….  I.e. on the application the user can drag and drop pdf, text, excel and other files into the grid and then the application needs save these files and make an association to the dropped grid row.

I am struggling to find examples or documentation on how to get this to work … specifically how can I access the document that is being dropped , etc … do you have examples or documentation for any of this…

I have found the documents on the WPF drag and drop framework, but nothing for winforms ….

    Hello Brian,

I have been investigating into the behavior you are looking to achieve, and I can confirm that at the moment, there is no specific Infragistics Drag Drop framework for Windows Forms like in WPF, and as such, to do this, you would need to use the built-in .NET Drag and Drop framework. With that said, there is an example, here, that does this for a Form and since all of the properties being set in the recommended example are inherited from the base .NET types, this should work for the UltraGrid as well.

Regarding examples and documentation for version 10.3, you will not find this on our website, as our online documentation sites have been completely overhauled since version 10.3 and so the 10.3 documentation no longer exists. This is because at the time of the documentation overhaul, version 10.3 was already around 5-6 years old and was considered retired, obsolete and unsupported. There haven't been *too* many breaking changes since that version though, and so most things should work the same as in the documentation that does exist. If it doesn't, it will likely be documented in the list of breaking changes found here: https://www.infragistics.com/help/winforms/win-known-issues-and-breaking-changes

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns on this matter.
