There was a similar issue fixed in the February service release last year so if you are not using anything later than 2013 Volume 1 then upgrading and testing to see if it resolves the issue is a good suggestion.  Also the issue that was fixed was found to be specific to some fonts so it will also be helpful if you let us know what font you are using if this is reproducible in 2013 Volume 1 and later.  If you are looking for a workaround, setting TextRenderingMode to GDI on the editor may also work around this issue.  You can also set this for all controls by setting the static UseGDIPlusTextRendering property on the DrawUtility class to false.
