We recently received new Win10 PCs and are reinstalling IG WinForms 2016 Volume 2. On two of the three PCs everything went just fine. On the third, we're using the same installer file but it will not accept our license key. It says its invalid and offers to install in trial-mode. In fact it won't accept any of the license keys we have, including the ones used successfully on the other PCs just a few days ago. I searched the forum and came up empty on solutions. Any idea how I resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance... Steve
Hi Steve,
If you are running our Platform Installer, the log files will be automatically created in a folder called Log Files in the same directory as the Platform Installer.
Otherwise, I suspect you may be running the MSIs directly. If you are directly installing the MSIs, you can use the following command line (replacing the text in brackets) to generate the log file:
msiexec /i <Infragistics installer>.msi /lvx* IGPlatformInstall.log INSTALL_SERIALNUM=<your key>
Let me know if I may be of further assistance.
Unfortunately this is on a government classified computer. Security rules prevent us from taking files from this PC onto unclassified systems. Are there specific things we could look for in the log file? BTW I've never noticed a folder next to the installer being created. Can you give me specifics on what it's called, where it's created, etc? We're running the installer from the desktop.
When you run the installer, some log files should be generated in a folder next to the installer.
Please send us these log files so we can have a better understanding of what is causing this.
If you would prefer not to attach the log files on the forums, I can create a private case for you.
No, it still won't accept the key. We powered the PC down and restarted. Before trying to install I even made sure there were no Infragistics entries in the Windows Registry (just in case). When we got to the install screen asking for the product key it still said it was invalid. We proceeded with installing as a "trial" and then re-ran the setup, choosing the option that lets you register a trial version. That wouldn't accept our product key either. This is very frustrating because we have a developer sitting idle because we can't get these tools installed on his machine.
Thank you for the update.
Please let me know if you had any success with restarting.
