any Ironspeed Users out there that can compare it to Infragistics?
posted
I’m really hoping someone can help me out here. It will be the easiest question you will have all day, probably all week. Are there any users out there that have also used Ironspeed (Ironspeed.com)? I have been using it for developing database driven websites, it’s great. I can use Dreamweaver for static sites, no problem. Ironspeed is so easy to use I don’t even bother trying to use Dreamweaver for DB.  I just can’t seem to get a ‘grip’ on Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer. I’ve tried but I just don’t like working with it. I have been looking for applications that will do the same as Ironspeed just with a few more bells and whistles or at least better looking. I wandered across Infragistics and still can’t really tell if it compares to Ironspeed. That being said, this is what Ironspeed does that I do need. I have a SQL Server 2005 DB and it will connect to it no problem. Can display records from the tables in grid view, single record, edit, create, export in .csv, etc. It also allows me to upload files for each record which will eventually be .pdf files.  Best of all, it’s all ‘self-contained’ for lack of a better term. It’s an installable stand alone program. Do all of these really cool screens with Infragistics require that I use Visual Studio/Visual Web Developer? Is this point and click and drag and drop to select DB tables, queries, etc? I’m going to go ahead and try and download a trial but just wanted to see if there is anyone out there that has used this and Ironspeed and see what you think of both. If its not like it, any ideas what program does compare with the ease of use to Ironspeed  but with the snazzy forms and screens of Infragistics.

Iron Speed has some options where you can use Infragistics conrols in the generated forms.  For example, the Infragistics grid can be used in certain pages which offers more bells and whistles.

As for what Infragistics offers:  We offer a toolset that you can use to develop applications (usually from inside of Visual Studio or Visual WebDeveloper).  While we don't focus on using our tools outside of Visual Studio, there are third party vendors like Iron Speed for example, who do just that.

Again, Net Advantage tools can be used with Iron Speed designer, to give you forms with more 'bang'.  You might be better off posting your question in the Iron Speed forums, where you're certain to speak to other Iron Speed users.
