Hi,
I am binding data to a igCombo using knockoutJS, igCombo is able to bind and select the value from data source only when valueKey and data source values exactly match otherwise it's not selecting the value. i.e. if data source has a value - SYSTEM and view model has a value - System then igCombo doesn't select the record in the list.
Can you assist me on how to make igCombo to perform case-insensitive selection?
Thanks,Manjunath M
Hello Manjunath,
Thank you for contacting Infragistics!
How are you setting up the igCombo? Are you using the caseSensitive property? What version are you using?
http://www.igniteui.com/help/api/2015.2/ui.igcombo#options:caseSensitive
Hi Mike,
We are using 2015.1 versionPlease refer the attached page for more details. In this example I am trying to select a value from combobox with following codethis.selectedActor = ko.observableArray(["b"]);
I am also setting caseSensitive property to false value
This is not working, if I make the value to "B"(Captial letter-exact match to value in datasource) then it's selecting the value.
Thanks,Manjunjath M
Hello Manjunjath,
Thank you for the update. If you want the igCombo to be case sensitive you have to set the caseSensitive property to true:
Please let me know what happens when you set caseSensitive to true.
I want to make igCombo selection case-insensitive not case-sensitive. Irrespective of caseSensitive flag value, it's not able to select the record. Can you please take a look at my sample(it's very simple one) and make it working?
Thank you for the update. I misread that previously. I have talked this with my team and the caseSensitive property has to do with filtering and auto-selection when typing a value. We have some questions concerning your setup.
Why is it that you have id’s that are uppercase in some instances and lower in others? Is there a reason you can’t make all your ids lowercase or uppercase?
We are developing new web UI screens using IG controls for editing existing records or creating the new records. Our clients may have the field value either in capital or small letters as we dind't worried about them before. Now we don't want to go and update all those records for this purpose, we want to make the binding case-insensitive.
Thank you for the update. Currently to make the igCombo case insensitive in this way would be a new product idea. You can suggest new product ideas for future versions at <http://ideas.infragistics.com>.
There are many benefits to submitting a product idea:
- Direct communication with our product management team regarding your product idea.- Notifications whenever new information regarding your idea becomes available.- Ability to vote on your favorite product ideas to let us know which ones are the most important to you. You will have ten votes for this and can change which ideas you are voting for at any time.- Allow you to shape the future of our products by requesting new controls and products altogether.- You and other developers can discuss existing product ideas with members of our Product Management team.
Steps to create your idea: 1. Log into the Infragistics Product Idea site at http://ideas.infragistics.com (creating a new login if needed).2. Navigate to the product / platform channel of your choice (e.g. WPF, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, HTML5 / Ignite UI, iOS / NucliOS, etc.)3. Add your product idea and be sure to be specific and provide as much detail as possible. • Explain the context in which a feature would be used, why it is needed, why it can’t be accomplished today, and who would benefit from it. You can even add screenshots to build a stronger case. Remember that for your suggestion to be successful, you need other members of the community to vote for it. Be convincing!• Include a link to this thread in your idea so product management will be able to look back at this case.
The Product Idea site puts you in the driver’s seat and allows you to track the progress of your ideas at any time, see how many votes it got, read comments from other developers in the community, and see if someone from the product team has additional questions for you.

If you want case insensitive in the way you describe you would either have to change the data so the values are all lower case or upper case. You can use the toLowerCase or toUpperCase methods. To change the values you are trying to search/filter by. Currently in the scenario you are only trying to setup the initial selected value, are there other places you wanted to set the selected items in this method?
