Hi all,
I was wondering if there are any risks involved in installing 2 different versions of the NetAdvantage on the same machine. Are there specific steps I should follow in order to have 2 version up and running?I am planning to upgrade existing app to use the latest version of Infragistics but at the same time to be able to keep older version too.
Please advice, thank you!
Hello Bavani Ratnam,
It really depends on what do you mean under "two different versions". If this means that you would like to have for example NetAdvantage 2011 vol1 and NetAdvantage 2011vol2 installed on your machine in the same time, than you would be able freely to do so, and you will be still able to use your 2011 vol1 applications without any issues.
If you would like to install two specific versions(Service releases) of the on a spesific NetAdvantage version like - 2011 vol1, on the same machine, than this wouldn't work. After installing the latest service release of any version it will override the existing assmeblies from the very same version, and your projects will point to the superior version (this will happen only when you are upgrading specific version with serivice releases).
Please feel free to let me know if I misunderstood what you are asking here.
Hi Danko Valkov,
Thank you for you reply. Sorry for not being specific.
I was planning to install NetAdvantage 2011.1 in parallel with the existing NetAdvantage 2008 Vol 3. I went ahead and decided to try it out before getting a response for my question and also used the version utility tool to upgrade an app. Everything seems to be working just fine.
Thanks again! =)
